Ray of Hope

Our work is possible because of partners around the world who contribute their time, prayer, ingenuity and generous hearts to bless the people of the Amazon. We have joined together with the following organizations to increase the impact on the river.

Picture 16Operation Amazon is a clean water initiative located in Manuas, Brazil. In 2006, the World Health Organization released a study showing that in Brazil, over 50% of the deaths of children under the age of 5 were caused by water borne diseases. Even though the Amazon carries about 1/5 of the world’s fresh water, it is not clean drinking water. We manufacture plastic bio-sand filters and work with Ray of Hope to distribute these to the interior of the Amazon. In 2013 we used the Nova Vida (New Life) our our new 45′ barge to deliver the over 1200 plastic bio-sand water filters. Learn more about our mission at www.operationamazon.org

Manicapuru is a large Amazon town where many of the neediest people live, often having migrated there to try and find work. The Manacapuru Center was established to provide soup for children every day in this poverty stricken area. In 2009, Barn i Nöd (Children of Hope) decided to support this project by not only providing food, but extra help with homework and special supported education. In the evenings, the new center provides teaching to 30 adults, who learn how to read and write. Learn more about Children of Hope at www.barninod.com
